April 15, 2008: Happy new season! Put in at Coxsacki and went north between the islands and the western shore. Someone has opened a passage through the breakwater at the top of Rattlesnake Island so I was able to go through even though the tide was almost all the way out.

Here's a pic of the breakwater at low tide a couple of years ago.

And here it is now, also at low tide.

I didn't see any eagles today but since the trees haven't leafed out yet, you could spot the nests easily. There's a big nest on the east side of each island -- I've marked them on the map.

Eagle's nest on the east side of Rattlesnake Island. It will be pretty well hidden when the trees get their leaves.
